Mira Terms of Use
Last updated: October 11, 2026
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using Mira (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Use (the "Terms") and to our Privacy Policy. The App is provided by Individual Entrepreneur (FOP) Hryshko Andrii Mykolaiovych, Ukraine ("we", "us"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you need the permission of a parent or guardian to create an account or buy a subscription.
2. What Mira Is
Mira is a reading app for language learners. It lets you read books, tap words to see translations and explanations, save words to a dictionary, practice them, and listen to books read aloud by on-device voices with word highlighting. Some features (translation, definitions, pictures for words, AI explanations, backup) use the internet.
3. Your Account
You can use parts of the App as a guest. Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Give us accurate information and tell us at mirasupporthelp@gmail.com if you think your account was accessed without your permission.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
Mira offers free and paid plans. Paid subscriptions are purchased and billed through Google Play and renew automatically until you cancel. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Google Play (Subscriptions); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Prices, plan features, and free-plan limits (for example, daily limits on narration or AI explanations) are shown in the App and may change; changes to a paid plan you already purchased apply from your next billing period, and Google Play notifies you before a price increase takes effect. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
No hidden fees: the price shown by Google Play before you confirm a purchase is the full price for the billing period, including any taxes Google Play collects. Plans with AI explanations include the daily limits shown in the App and, to keep the service sustainable, a monthly fair-use limit on AI processing. With typical use you can reach the daily limits every day; if the monthly limit is reached, AI explanations pause until the start of the next calendar month while all other features keep working. We do not charge any other fees. If a free trial is offered, its length and the price that applies after it are shown before you confirm; cancel before the trial ends and you will not be charged.
4.1. Refunds
All payments are processed by Google Play, so refunds are also issued through Google Play. Within 48 hours of a purchase you can request a refund directly in Google Play (play.google.com > Order history, or the Google Play app > Payments & subscriptions > Budget & history). After 48 hours, contact us at mirasupporthelp@gmail.com with your order number (it starts with GPA.); we review every request and, where appropriate, issue a full or partial refund through Google Play, usually within 14 days. We generally grant refunds for accidental purchases, duplicate charges, renewals you tried to cancel in time, or paid features that did not work and that we could not fix. When a subscription is refunded, paid access ends. Cancelling without a refund keeps paid access until the end of the current billing period. Deleting your account or uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription or trigger a refund. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights, including any right of withdrawal or remedies for faulty digital content under the law of your country.
5. Books and Your Content
The App includes a small selection of public-domain books. You may also import your own files. Only import books you have the right to use: your own files, public-domain works, or your own writing. You are responsible for the files you import. Imported books are stored on your device and are not uploaded to our servers unless you turn on Backup. We do not claim ownership of your content. Do not use the App to store or share content that infringes anyone's rights or is unlawful.
6. Voices and Speech Synthesis
Mira reads books aloud using neural voice models that run on your device (Kitten TTS for English, Supertonic 3 for French). The speech you hear is machine-generated. The models are provided by third parties under their own licenses, which are listed in the App under Profile > Open Licenses. Some voices must be downloaded before first use.
Restrictions for the French voices (Supertonic 3, BigScience OpenRAIL-M License). The French voices are produced by the Supertonic 3 model, which is licensed under the BigScience OpenRAIL-M License. By using these voices you agree to comply with that license, including its use-based restrictions (paragraph 5 and Attachment A of the license). You agree not to use the model or its output:
(a) In any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation;
(b) For the purpose of exploiting, harming or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way;
(c) To generate or disseminate verifiably false information and/or content with the purpose of harming others;
(d) To generate or disseminate personal identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual;
(e) To generate or disseminate information and/or content (e.g. images, code, posts, articles), and place the information and/or content in any context (e.g. bot generating tweets) without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that the information and/or content is machine generated;
(f) To defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;
(g) To impersonate or attempt to impersonate (e.g. deepfakes) others without their consent;
(h) For fully automated decision making that adversely impacts an individual’s legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation;
(i) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics;
(j) To exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behavior of a person pertaining to that group in a manner that causes or is likely to cause that person or another person physical or psychological harm;
(k) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories;
(l) To provide medical advice and medical results interpretation;
(m) To generate or disseminate information for the purpose to be used for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes, such as predicting an individual will commit fraud/crime commitment (e.g. by text profiling, drawing causal relationships between assertions made in documents, indiscriminate and arbitrarily-targeted use).
Speech generated by the App is machine-generated and, when you share or publish it, you must not present it as a human recording. You are responsible for how you use the audio the App generates. The full license text is available in the App under Profile > Open Licenses.
7. AI Features
Some features use artificial intelligence to explain words and sentences. To provide an AI explanation, the word or passage you select and its surrounding sentence are sent to our server and processed by a Groq as our AI processing provider. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date; check it before relying on it. AI explanations are for language learning and are not professional advice of any kind.
8. Acceptable Use
Do not: (a) use the App unlawfully or to harm others; (b) attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the App or our servers (except as the law expressly allows or a third-party license permits, including modification of LGPL components and reverse engineering for debugging those modifications); (c) circumvent limits, subscription checks, or technical protections; (d) copy, sell, or redistribute the App, its data, or the voice models in violation of their licenses; (e) use the App's voices or output to violate the restrictions listed in section 6.
9. Third-Party Services and Components
The App uses third-party software, data, and online services, including translation, dictionary, and picture services, Google Play, and Google Sign-In. Their availability and content are outside our control, and they are governed by their own terms. Open-source components and data sets are listed with their licenses in the App under Profile > Open Licenses.
10. Intellectual Property
The App, its design, and our own text and code belong to us or our licensors and are licensed to you, not sold, for your personal, non-commercial use under these Terms. Third-party components remain under their own licenses. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of anything to you except your own content.
10.1. Book Covers — Content & Copyright
Book cover artwork used in Mira includes artwork created specifically for the application, including artwork generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools. These app-specific covers are intended as original visual interpretations of the respective literary works, rather than reproductions of the artwork or design of any particular publisher or edition.
Third-party cover materials may be used only where the applicable license, permission, or public-domain status allows such use. Rights in third-party materials remain with their respective rights holders where applicable. This notice does not grant users permission to reuse cover artwork.
Open Licenses separately lists licenses and notices for third-party software, fonts, models, and other licensed components. If you have a question about a cover or believe it infringes your rights, contact us at mirasupporthelp@gmail.com and identify the book and image concerned.
11. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the App, translations, definitions, AI explanations, or synthesized speech will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate. Pronunciation and stress in synthesized speech can be wrong.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory consumer rights.
13. Suspension and Termination
You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time (email us at mirasupporthelp@gmail.com). We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 6, 10, 11, 12, and 15) continue to apply.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version in the App with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence.
